Ah, music...I wasn't sure what I was going to do for this week. I got a stamping plate from Cheeky that I wasn't expecting for a couple more weeks, so I was going to do the music notes, staff, instrument thing, but then...the VMA's happened (and just an FYI - this is one of the rare posts where I have video's embedded; with this challenge topic, I couldn't pass up the opportunity). For those that don't know, MTV has an annual Video Music Award program, and no, it is not Miley Cyrus inspired. That would have been a nude colored polish with a mouth and tongue accent nail...oh yea, and a foam finger worked in somewhere...

Tri-Polish Challenge: August #3
Crumpet's Nail Tarts Tri-Polish Challenge for August 2013 - colors are Red, Yellow and Green. This is my #3 manicure for this month, and with the oppressive heat outside, and only a small portable A/C unit in the house, I opted for something light...and fast. Plus, I want to work on my stamping, and this week is perfect for it.

T.I.O.T. (Try It On Tuesday) - 8/27/2013 - on Monday again!
Real quickie for this week's Try It On Tuesday...yes, a day early again. (Last minute cramming for finals will take up my Tuesday).
LynBDesigns AWESOME!!!! polish: The Fires of Gallifrey. I was listening to and watching Dr. Who all weekend while I was studying, and thought this was a perfect. Love, love it!
The color is described as red-based, but it reads more orange-y on me, which I like. With the gold glitter in it, I think a truer red would feel almost holiday-like. This was a quick paint job: two thickish coats, with no undies. Could have used some glitter food, but I'm only able to wear it a couple of days, and didn't want to bother. That is the one bad thing with being in more than one challenge - I don't wear a manicure for a week like I used to.
Told you this would be a quickie! No need for a jump break!
See you for the Mish Mash Challenge!

Liebster Award Nomination
PENDING AWARD...I'm not claiming it yet.
Hi everyone - Natalie at Over The Top Coat nominated me for the Liebster Award. What is that, you say? Well, that's what I said, anyway. Turns out it is an award, passed around the net from another fellow blogger, to someone who is relatively new to blogging and has less than 200 followers. Check, and check - that's me. It is a great way to get to know a little bit of the person behind the text on the screen. FYI - This has turned into a long post...sorry about that.

Tri-Polish Challenge: August #2
AUGUST 2013 colors: Red, Yellow, and Green. Oy!
Crumpet's Nail Tarts: Tri-Polish Challenge. It's 4 manis using three different color polishes. The colors are given for each month, and you have to use the same 3 for all 4 manicures.
So, since yellow is just not my thing for a base, I decided to switch it around for this manicure. Still a little stumped for creativity for the moment, so I went with and old favorite - a dotticure.
Colors used for the whole August challenge:
Love and Beauty (by Forever21) - Glittering Sea Green
Sinful Colors - Unicorn
Flower - NP14 Budding Romance
So, here it is: my dotticure.
Two down. Whew! A few days for me to come up with something for next week! Check out everyone else below for this crazy color combo!
Later!

I decided to go with a red base on this one. Flower is a brand that is exclusively sold at Walmart, and is a cosmetic line created by Drew Barrymore. The colors are very...safe. This particular red is very pretty. It has a micro shimmer in it that it not a WOW kind of thing; it just makes it kind of glow when the sun hits it.

Mish Mash Challenge #4: Technique never tried before
Hello everyone. Another challenge post - can't believe this is the 4th one already!! This week, we had to pick a technique we have never tried before. I had some trouble picking, because there are so many I haven't done. I ended up settling on Spun Sugar nails. I have never done this before, and didn't do any test runs before I did this mani. I have to say, although it has some issues, I am really pleased with how this one came out.

Tri-Polish Challenge: August #1
AUGUST 2013 colors: Red, Yellow, and Green. Oy!
Crumpet's Nail Tarts has a challenge every month, called the Tri-Polish Challenge. What is it, you ask? Well, it's 4 manis using...you guessed it, three different color polishes. The colors are given for each month, and you have to use the same 3 for all 4 manicures. Simple, right?
Well...the colors for August are: Red, Yellow, and Green. Can I just say O.M.G. The only thing that popped into my head once I read those colors is a stoplight. Can't get that image out. So to say this is a challenge is an understatement. I like yellow, but not on me. And green and red? Screams Christmas, at least to me. Add in yellow? There's the stoplight again. So...yea. I'm working on it.

T.I.O.T. (Try It On Tuesday) - 8/20/2013 (The Monday Edition)
This is gonna be a quickie - another Try It On Tuesday - yes, I know I am posting this on Monday, but if Halloween candy can be out in the stores in the middle of August, I feel OK about posting this one day early this week.
T.I.O.T is the relaxed challenge put together by Gini at Sassy Paints. She always has some fantastic polish or nail art posted, so go check her out.
This week, I was in the mood for pink. This one is a bright, shimmery, bubble-gummy, Barbie pink. Perfect!

NOTD: Saturday 8/17/2013
It seems like duochromes and multichromes are getting popular...I've got one on today that I just love. The colors are more muted, but the shift is really strong. I am surprised that I don't see this brand being reviewed and used more often. It's a shame; they really are beautiful. This one is Nubar Indigo Illusion.

Mish Mash Challenge #3: Metallic & Giveaway Winner Info!
So, do I do my challenge manicure first, or do I do giveaway info? Hmmm, I think I will do the manicure first. This week is Metallic, and I have some Kleankolor metallic polishes that are just perfect. They really do need to do a collaboration with a company that sells gas masks, cause these are just freakin' awful smelling!!
I got a little delayed in getting this manicure done because my cat, who has been sick for some time, is tearing through the house in hyperactive mode. All she wants to do is play, and she hasn't been like this for a few months. I finally finished, but cleaning up from the technique I used is really drying out my fingers, so I gotta take a break. If you see some tinges of color or sparkle on my cuticles, just disregard it.

T.I.O.T. (Try It On Tuesday) - 8/13/2013
I'm squeezing in a quick T.I.O.T. post this week. The polish this week is by Polish Addict. I was so excited when I bought this, and somehow it got stashed in a box while I was waiting for another storage rack for my polishes. I just recently purchased a couple, and in the process of organizing, I came across this in the box. I had forgotten about this polish - along with more than a few others - but no more!
I ran and checked on Laura's website - which you can find here - and this polish is no longer available <<sad face>>, but I definitely want to show it off. So, I present to you, Drunken Elephant:

NOTD: Sunday 8/11/13
So the manicure I did for yesterday - that I was planning on wearing for 2 or 3 days - got destroyed in 24 hours. Here is my replacement. I LOVE THIS COLOR! Well, actually, that should read "these colors". This is two different polishes - one scatter holo and one texture. Two different brands, but colors matched so well, I had to mix.

Another kitty update
It's been a while since I've posted something about my kitty - Maize - and since I'm still up, I thought I would put up a little note.
It's been almost 2 1/2 months since I brought her home from the animal hospital, and during that time it has been hit or miss. I think we finally found an insulin dosage that is working for her. She is back to playing, she looks bright-eyed, and she wakes me up every morning (like she used to) so she could either lay down on my pillow, or crawl under the covers. These habits used to be a real pain in the ass, but I now I just smile. Perspective I guess.
I have one more glucose curve to do for her to make sure that what I am seeing is really the positive results that I want to see, and then we are good for a while. There is still a very real possibility that her pancreas is still mending, and her natural ability to produce insulin may kick back in, but for now I think I have her managed.

Blog re-design
Hi all! I am going through another re-design on my blog. I think this is going to be it for a while. I am pretty happy with how this looks, but would like some opinions.
**Edited: This is DEFINITELY going to be it! This is too much of a pain in the butt to modify some aspects; I had to go into the HTML code to do it, and added a CSS coding override. This is how it will stay.**
I still have some things to update, like all the text fonts on the posts reverted to a size and font that is pretty difficult to read (update - this part is finally done). Ugh! Also, my blog roll. I have chosen to make it a tab under my header, and need to re-create what I previously had on my blog.
It's after 1:30 am Update - it's now 6:00 am Sunday morning, and what I thought would be only an hour or two of tweaking has turned into a project (incomplete one at that!) that has run over 6 11 hours so far...time to go to sleep.
EDITED:It is now 2:45 am. I REALLY need to get to sleep!
Nite everyone!

NOTD: Saturday 8/10/13
Relatively quick post today - I needed a change from my Mish Mash manicure, and had a craving for something neutral. I have gotten in the habit of doing an accent nail, and today is no different.
I would say this is unusual for me, but lately, I don't have a usual. Whatever grabs me, I go with. It's a little more fun not being predictable, isn't it?

We are at week 2 for the Mish Mash Challenge, and that means taping. I have never done taping before, so this a first for me. Can I tell you, I NAILED it! <<rimshot in the background>>. Ok, ok, I know...bad pun. But, I am going to toot my own horn because I really think I did an awesome job.

Mish Mash Challenge #1: Purple
Hi all! I have been away for a while...longer than I had anticipated. I'm in a funk, and not liking anything that goes on my nails. <<sigh>> I hope this doesn't last too long, especially with the kick-off of Kimber's Amazing Challenge Ladies new challenge. I have a page of info on it (you can see the tab under my banner), if you are interested. It's running for 30 weeks, so jump on in!
