ABC Challenge - "D" is for dots!

Another week has flown by; can't believe how fast it's going!!

So, for this week I decided dots.  I liked this idea, but I had a little trouble with the execution.  I don't have anything in my supplies that gave me a nice clear dot - and I tried a couple of things.  I looked for a dotting tool, but nowhere near me had any - can you believe it??  I ended up ordering one on Amazon, and would you know, the FIRST time ever that my package is in limbo...

So, they look more like blobs than dots, but hey - what are you gonna do?

I used Maybelline Onyx Rush - the bottle says "New Shade", but it isn't.  I was too lazy to take the label off.  I wanted to try a matte finish against the dots, and I used Essie Matte About You.  Love it!  I think I will be doing more matte topcoats.

For the 'dots', I used all 6 of the colors in the China Glaze Bohemian Collection - Deviantly Daring, No Plain Jane, Rare & Radiant, Swanky Silk, Unpredictable, and Want My Bawdy.

Again lighting and camera issues.  I was ready to take pictures today at work, but massive thunderstorms and dark clouds all day long.  It was 7pm dark at about 2:30pm today.  So, I only have 1 workable photo.

I don't think I could ever do this on a permanent basis - I have SOOO much respect for the women that keep these kind of blogs.  It is crazy time consuming, and the work involved in getting those perfect macro shots of hands...wayyyy to much work for me right now.

So, hats off to them.  Sending a big thank you for letting an amateur like me play in the majors!!
Check out the other fantastic ladies in this fun challenge below.

Good night everyone...until next week!!

ABC Challenge - "C" is for...Confused

Well, I missed a week on my posting, so I am picking things back up with "C".

My first choice was camouflage.  I had seen a couple of examples of it I really liked, and thought I would try it.  I worked at it, and I did complete one, but...after 2 days, I just did NOT like it. AT ALL.  I'm going to run with the reason that I am still new at this, and don't have the creative juices flowing just yet.

So, what to do, what to do...then I had an idea.  Well, a chain reaction thought really, that started in an unlikely place.  The ending of the hockey lockout.  The Blackhawks took the ice over the weekend, and I started thinking about when they won the Stanley Cup.  The parade in Chicago was crazy, and when I was watching it, I remember all the confetti that was coming down when the two double decker buses drove the team to the rally.  So, confetti it is.  Well, my version anyway.

Simple choice - only two colors.  Orly White Tips and China Glaze It's a Trap-eze.

I'm still trying to find time to do these photos during the day, but things are crazy with work and school schedules.  I need to get a camera too.

The single digit temperatures, sub-zero windchills and all this forced air heat has made everything dry, so I'm still working on making the finished product look nice, but this one IS better than the last.  Baby steps...
.
I'm looking forward to "D".  Have a good week everyone!

ABC Challenge - "A" is for Aqua

Alright...drum roll please.  I'm in need of a new manicure, and the cold weather has killed my fingers, so please excuse the photo.  This is more of a test for me really, to see if I can get the hang of this posting stuff.

My "A" for the challenge is for Aqua - as in China Glaze Aquadelic.  I topped that off with Orly's Mermaid Tale, and voila!  I have a summery manicure in the dead of winter.  It's kind of fitting though, our office at work is like 80 degrees...feels like summer inside all year round.

Ugh!! This will be a reminder to not neglect my hands, especially when it will be only 10-20 degrees outside.

So...not the best mani, that's for sure, but I did, by some fluke, have the polish on before I even knew about the challenge...maybe it was destiny.
I've been pretty sleep deprived for the last 3 weeks, so bear with me here.  Things will get better.

Until "B"...

ABC Mani challenge

OK.  I have been on a little bit of a binge, and dived into the whole polish, manicure, etc. blog reading thing.  I am REALLY new to this, and stumbled across the blog "Kimber's Lacquer Korner".
I read about an ABC manicure challenge, and I figured WOW...I don't have a blog, and I have no real idea what I'm doing.  What a GREAT idea to get involved!!

So here I am trying to play catch up, but I usually thrive under pressure.  The blog is still a work in progress, but not too shabby so far for such short notice, huh?

Oh My God!

Last thing I ever expected to be doing was setting up a blog, and posting.  Crazy things going on right now, and I didn't realize how much I needed a creative outlet.  This is all kind of new to me, so let the ride begin!
