ABC Challenge - "Z" is for Zombie Apocalypse

I'm playing catch up because my OCD will NOT allow me to skip 3 weeks.  It just won't...I've tried to ignore it, but it's like that one grain of sand in your shoe that feels like a boulder.  You know what I mean...

So, here it is - my "Z".  Hands are a mess.  A little peeling issue on a couple of fingers that caused a couple stubbies, and then packing up my desk for the new inmate at work.  Had to pack up 2012 files from cabinets into boxes, and then file away the first half of 2013.  A LOT more breaks, and shredded skin around my nails.  Most are healing pretty well (I am moisturizing the crap out of them), but one particularly bad tear cause by a stray packing staple is killing me on the pointer finger.  My middle finger was trying to be helpful in covering in the photo, but it makes my cleanup on my finger...painful.  Almost scream-worthy painful.

Colors used this week:
Pop Culture Cosmetics - Zombie Apocalypse
Essence - 139 Walk on the Wild Side (GORGEOUS green & blue shimmer in here!)

Just a warning here - if you are looking for Zombie nails ala Natalie at "Over the Top Coat", just quietly click off my page.  You ain't gonna find that here.  Creativity was not on my agenda (which will be obvious from my photo) - just down and dirty posts.  My fingers are just in too bad a shape right now.  Seriously - you have to see her Zombie nails!

I am sad to see this challenge come to a close.  I remember how excited I was to originally find these ladies and start in the group.  And now, 6 months later, I have learned so much from them, and am still learning something new every week.  But....it's not over.  We've got a new challenge firmed up and ready to go after a 4 week break to enjoy the summer a little bit (at least us Northern Hemisphere ladies).  More on that in an upcoming post.

Thanks again to Kimber at Kimber's Lacquer Korner - if I hadn't stumbled onto her blog, this whole craziness would never have happened for me.  I like the crazy.

Check out all the other ladies' closing contributions to this awesome ABC Challenge.  I hope that you, reader, have enjoyed it even half as much as I have!!

  1. Hey, Liz. Nothing like files to screw with a mani. Been there. Done that. Styptic pencil wishes and moisturizer dreams for the new inmate.

For you, congratulations on ending gracefully one mani challenge, and launching right off into the next.

It will be a fun one! :)

    1. I didn't realize how much I missed sitting and doing a manicure until I didn't do one for three weeks. I have a pink base and flowers on my fingers right now - I don't even LIKE flower nail art - but I am just happy to have something on my fingers! I am so looking forward to the next challenge - and this one I'm doing on the fly. No planning like the last one!

    1. I thought that too, but the base is tinted a very olive-y green, and not a nice spruce kind of green like you usually see. I'm going to try it over a silver foil or metallic base next time to see just how much of a tint there is.

  4. I feel your pain. I cut up my cuticles with a nail file and a distracted me, and I want to cry when I do clean up.

On the positive side, love your mani!! And your hands look great to me :)

    1. They are better, but I've had them almost literally soaking in cuticle oil. You can see how red the pointer & middle finger got from acetone. Nails are wayyy to short for me, but nothing I can do about that but wait.

  5. Aw, thanks for your kind words :) I love your mani as well...those colors look great together and of course, anything with zombie in the name is A-OK in my book ;) I hope healing continues and your ouchies make a speedy recovery!
